All the registrations and rosters have been turned in. New umpires have been trained and former umpires will be returning. Scorekeeping clinic is getting ready to happen. We are scheduled to begin games on Tuesday, August 16th. So now to the skinny of the teams. We have the spring season's league champion the Silver Dawgs returning to vie for the title of best team in the league. But it won't be happening if Jacked Up Jokers has anything to say about it. When these two teams meet there is nowhere else to be but at the ballpark. El Chupacabras will be returning. As you may remember, El Chupacabras had a very strong showing right before playoffs, but then fizzled out in the semi-finals when they faced the Silver Dawgs. We also have the Misfits that finished off in the top four last season and almost went on to the finals. Master Batters had finished in the #5 seed for last season but will unfortunately not be returning this season. Koed Krew is always fun to watch and they finished behind the Master Batters. Ignited Batters has been completely retooled again so we will have to wait and see what they can do on the field. Bethel Believers has been divided into two teams; more on that in a minute. They took the #8 seed last year. Robbie's Front End has re-made themselves into the Brewhounds. They came out in the #9 seed. Jennings Oilfielders were very proud to come in the last seed. It looked like Robbie's Front End would take the title from them, but in their last regular season game against Robbie's Front End, they were able to secure it.
As I said earlier, we did lose one team from last season. We are pleased to welcome three new teams in their place. Cleats & Cleavage is ready to come out and show us something. PAI which is sponsored by Port Aggregates Inc. will make short work of the competition. Bethel Believers divided into Bethel Outta Control and Team Impact. I guess you could say they went forth and multiplied. I can't wait for the season to begin and see all of you out on the field. One of my favorite phrases growing up was "Play Ball".
